They’re Racing at Manangatang, the stunning photo book produced by Ten Bag Press to celebrate a century of racing in the heart of the Mallee, is now on sale!
There are local pick-up options if you want to save on postage, with the book available for collection at Landmark Manangatang (from Monday, July 2) and at the Ten Bag Press HQ in Ballarat (120 Victoria St, by appointment).
In addition to those options, the book can be purchased from Collins Booksellers in Mildura (58 Langtree Ave).
It will be available from other bookshops in the near future and will be stocked by Readings in Melbourne from early August.
Copies will also be available at the 2018 Ladbrokes Manang Races.
The book retails for $45.
They’re Racing at Manangatang features a foreword by champion jockey Luke Nolen, who was born in Manang and rode to fame on Black Caviar, along with an essay on the history of racing in the town by Adam McNicol and some brilliant historic photographs.
It then features a lengthy photographic documentary of the 2017 Ladbrokes Manangatang Cup meeting, which drew a record-breaking crowd of more than 3300. (That crowd number looks even better when you consider that Manangatang has a population of around 250!)
The documentary photos were taken by renowned photographers Noel Butcher, Andrew Chapman and Jaime Murcia, while the book was laid out by award-winning designer Phil Campbell.
They’re Racing at Manangatang has been released as preparations step up for the 2018 Ladbrokes Manang Races, which will be held on Saturday, October 13 and are expected to draw another big crowd to the famous little town.
Before then, however, you’re all invited to the book launch in Manangatang this weekend!
