Ten Bag Press was born in the back blocks of Victoria’s rugged but beautiful Mallee region.

Established in 2010 by journalist and author Adam McNicol, who grew up on a wheat and sheep farm just south of the iconic town of Manangatang, Ten Bag Press has become one of the leading publishers of high-end photographic books that celebrate Australia.

Ten Bag Press is named after the description of a Mallee wheat crop Adam often heard when growing up. A ten bag crop was one that yielded ten bags of grain per acre (a bag being three bushels or 80kgs).

A classic Mallee conversation might go like this:

"How's your wheat going, Jack?"

"Not bad. She'll be a ten bag crop, I reckon."
